Cat House Masters

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

This week we have been SO generous!

Care to elaborate a little for our readers, Sasha?

Well, to just mention one extremely generous thing we did this week, we let Zoe and her friend Giovanna make a cat house for, yes, another cat. To be specific, they made it for a tiny gray and white kitten named Hugo who lives in Giovanna’s neighbor’s house.

That’s right! That’s just how nice we are. It was worth the sacrifice when we saw the pictures and videos of how much Hugo ended up loving it!

Here are some pictures and a video of the completed palace before they surprised the kitten with it:

You can see Giovanna’s cat, Totoro, also being generous as he helps the girls by giving it a test run:

Hugo especially liked the “get-away clear room”. Because he could get away from the dog, Rosie, but still see and interact with her:

High five Sasha! We just made the world a better place!

Lungfish can live out of water for several years. It secretes a mucus cocoon and burrows itself under the unbaked earth. It takes in air with its lung through a built-in breathing tube that leads to the surface. A lungfish has both gills and a lung.

The Flappy Game

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

I have been playing this really fun game with the cat door!

Oh, so that is that weird thing you have been doing with the cat flap. I was getting a bit worried that you were going crazy or something.

So, how do you play this game then, Lola?

Well, I go up to the cat flap, then I paw at it 20 or so times, and then I go through the cat flap and go outside. And then I have won the game!

Sounds, um, easy.

That’s where you are wrong. It is actually quite dificult.

Well, good for you, Lola.

Thanks. I am very proud of myself!

Ok, well, I give up.

And here is a video of me demonstrating how I play:

Encounter Of The Furred Kind

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

We have been taking the summer life easy and relaxed while the humans have been doing their summer cleaning.

I was hanging out on the balcony watching the warm wind blow in the grass.

And I was chilling by the roses in the windowsill, watching Lola.

On this one day it was so hot that the humans opened all the doors. And at that moment a certain neighbor cat grabbed his chance!

I saw him running across our garden and around our house towards our front door!

He was coming into our house!

I ran through the house to the front door to scare off this intruder!

Some of you readers may remember him from earlier posts. If not, read about it here, here, here, here and here.

He was now inside our house and someone had to do something about it. So I ran up to Amadeus, who was standing in the hall, and I gave him a fierce hiss!

And he ran away like a little wimp like he does every time there is an encounter with him.

Well, that’s not quite what happened.

Yeah, ok, it didn’t hurt that Zoe chased him out. But my hiss was what sent him running.

Good job, Lola.

Thanks! I’m feeling quite proud of myself now.

Steps Towards Weirdness

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

This week I have been observing Lola’s “special” sairs climbing method.

Our early readers might remember that we have a staircase outside so we can climb up from the garden onto our balcony and then from there we can go inside through the cat flap in the balcony door.

What fascinates me about Lola’s method is that instead of jumping from side to side up the stair, she always at a certain point jumps straight upwards, skipping a step and making it very difficult for herself. Check it out here:

Do you guys see what I mean?

Oh, Sasha, don’t you get why I do it that way?

Is there a reason?

Of course! It is because that way I can stay in shape! Haven’t you ever noticed how ripped my upper body is?

Well, I guess now that you say it, I think I am noticing it now.

It’s not only you that works out, you know! I’m a lean mean stair-climbing machine!

Can’t Make Up Our Minds

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

We’ve been trying to decide whether it’s fun or scary to go outside. The fresh green grass is tasty and it’s fun to chase birds and bugs. What’s not fun is the aggressive cat next door and sometimes there are even dogs that run into our garden.

So sometimes we just can’t make up our minds. We really want to go out now that summer is here, but we don’t want to be surprised by an unfriendly cat or dog! This is what it looks like when we can’t quite decide:

Eventually, I decided to take the plunge and take a walk in the garden. It was glorious!

Lola, did your bravery have anything to do with the fact that Zoe’s mom was out there weeding and trimming the hedges?

Well, maybe just a little. It always feels safer when one of our humans is outside with us.

You came back inside pretty fast when the Zoe’s mother fired up the lawnmower, though.

True. That thing is almost as terrifying as the vacuum cleaner!

Sometimes you go for long walks following our people through the woods, Lola.

You never do that, though, Sasha.

Nah, I like to stay closer to home base, and then you can tell me about your adventures when you get back!
